Invaderfoil Set : Parts & Names

Assembly

Invaderfoil hydrofoil assembly

Stabilizer Assembly

The stabilizer has a striped FLAT surface and a CURVED surface. In your hydrofoil assembly, ensure the FLAT striped surface touches the Fuselage. Ensure the CURVED surface touches the Fin. Your foil experience will be short lived if you put this on upside down.

Ensure the Fin is aligned straight with the fuselage.

Tighten the screws well.

All Flying Surfaces Attach Beneath the Fuselage

The Stabilizer and Fin use M6 counter sunk screws. Ensure these are well tightened before each Foil session.

The Wing uses M8 counter sunk cap screws and sleeve nuts. Do not over tighten the wing to the fuselage.

The white Invader stripes should face upwards and be on the same side of the fuselage.

Storing the flying surfaces and the fuselage all assembled, as a unit, will decrease wear and tear.

Remember to rinse the unit well in fresh water after every use

Mast - Fuselage Attachment

Two M8 counter sunk cap screws attach the mast to the fuselage.

Tighten these well before each foil session.

The mast should be removed and rinsed in fresh water after each session.

If one of the screws is difficult to remove after a session , a good idea is to remove the other screw and twist the entire fuselage slightly to loosen the stuck counter sunk head.

Mast - Pedestal Attachment

Two M8 counter sunk cap screws attach the foil’s mast into the pedestal collar.

Ensure these remain well tightened and that the mast is not loose within the collar.

Every few sessions remove the mast from the pedestal and rinse thoroughly with fresh water. Keep the M8 threads that run into the mast well greased with anti corrosion paste or spray.

Pedestal - Board Attachment

It is advisable to use a plastic or vinyl coupling plate between your board and the aluminium pedestal. This prevents abrasion and denting of the board surface.

When using a temporary "stick on" type board rail mount , it is advisable to attach a "foil leash" between the foil and your board. Simply use a thin cord tied around the upper portion of your mast and the leash plug insert usually placed at the back of your board.

Maintenance & Care

Invaderfoil maintenance and foil care

Rinse In Fresh Water

After every session make sure to thoroughly rinse the hydrofoil assembly in fresh water.

Remove Sand and Grit

Make sure to keep all the foil’s threads ( especially the mast ) clean and clear of any sand or grit.

Anti Corrosion

Every few sessions apply an anti corrosive paste liberally to all the threads in your foil set - especially between the mast and the pedestal.

Do not use anything with copper or aluminum as this is meant for steel-steel connections and not dissimilar materials. Normal grease without copper for marine use is fine. Tefgel , Lanoguard/Lanocote -   Lanolin based (sheep's wool) marine grease is what is recommended. Continued lubrication with vaseline (petroleum jelly) of all stainless steel bolts and cap screws in the hydrofoil assembly has also yielded great results.

Sun & Heat

Store all the foil parts and flying surfaces out of direct sunlight and away from heat.

Storage

Storing the flying surfaces and the fuselage all assembled as a unit will decrease wear and tear.

It is not necessary to undo each part from the fuselage, but rather to rinse the entire hydrofoil assembly thoroughly in fresh water.

Removing the mast from the fuselage and rinsing thoroughly after each session is however recommended.

Every few sessions remove the mast from the pedestal and rinse thoroughly with fresh water. Add anti corrosion paste to all threads in the foil set.
